Black Ants

Most black ants in Tasmania are either the White Footed Ant (Technomyrmex Albipes) or the Black House Ant (Ochetellus spp) but there are others.

Commonly these ants will tend to nest within your house (walls, ceilings) but are spotted when then they travel outside the nest to search for food. They are known to swarm when travelling and are common to find in kitchens, bathrooms and laundries.

Nests are reported to house between eight  thousand to three million individual ants

We use a three step approach to treat the ants and we are confident that we can find a solution for you.

Argentine Ants Linepithema Fumile

This species of ant is invading the world. From its home in Argentina it has spread to six continents and many more islands across the planet. The ants generally form colonies in Tasmania, just below the ground surface, under leaves, stones and in pot plants. In other countries their colonies have been measured at up to 6000kms long. So the chances are that if your neighbour has them, so do you.

They are a small brown ant that travel in columns along cracks or edges and nest close to the surface- look under rocks or logs in the garden. They will invade your house to search for food and regular surface sprays are ineffective at treating the problem.
